Nash talks heading in right direction

TheFourthPeriod.com

It appears contract negotiations between the Blue Jackets and Rick Nash are moving along in the right direction, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

Citing an unnamed source, the Dispatch reported on its website Thursday night that the two sides "are not that far apart at all."

Nash was originally disappointed with the Blue Jackets initial offer, but his agent, Joe Resnick, tendered a counter proposal this morning and discussions continued until late last night.

The Dispatch claims two contracts are being discussions: a seven-year deal and a 10-year pact -- both of which include a no-movement clause.

Nash, 25, made $6.5 million this past season and should see his salary hit around the $7.5 million to $8 million mark on a new deal.
