Blue Jackets trade Leclaire to Senators for Vermette

The Columbus Blue Jackets have traded goaltender Pascal Leclaire and a second-round draft pick to the Ottawa Senators for center Antoine Vermette.

Vermette, 26, has tallied nine goals and 19 assists for 28 points with 42 penalty minutes in 62 games with the Senators this season.

The St. Agapit, Quebec native averaged 21 goals, 20 assists and 41 points per season from 2005-08.

He was originally drafted in the third-round, 55th overall, by the Senators in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

Leclaire, 26, is in his fourth full season in the NHL. In 12 games, he has four wins, six losses and one overtime loss with a 3.83 goals-against average and .867 save-percentage. He has missed the last 23 games and another seven games in late October and November due to injuries.

Leclaire was Columbus' first-round pick, eighth overall, in the 2001 entry draft.

The Blue Jackets also acquired goalie Kevin Lalande from the Calgary Flames for a 2009 fourth-round draft pick.

Lalande, 22, has gone 4-1-1 with a 1.94 goals-against average, .929 save percentage and one shutout in six games with Quad City of the AHL this season.

The Kingston, Ontario native was Calgary's fifth pick, 128th overall, in the 2005 Entry Draft.
