Matvichuk to attend Columbus camp? TheFourthPeriod.com
According to the Columbus Dispatch's website, veteran defenseman Richard Matvichuk is expected to attend the Blue Jackets' training camp on a non-roster tryout.
Matvichuk, however, has yet to formally accept the club's invitation.
The 35-year-old played for Blue Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock in Dallas and helped the Stars make back-to-back Stanley Cup final appearances in 1999 and 2000.
Matvichuk spent all of last season playing for New Jersey AHL affiliate after the Devils thought he was a step slow.
Hitchcock believes Matvichuk has lost around 20 pounds and told the Dispatch that "if he comes here we will give him an honest assessment of where he's at."
