Blue Jackets sign York TheFourthPeriod.com
According to the Columbus Dispatch, the Blue Jackets have signed unrestricted free agent center Mike York to a one-year, two-way contract.
The deal will pay York $750,000 with the Blue Jackets and $100,000 with the minor-league Syracuse Crunch of the AHL.
York, 30, played in 63 games with Phoenix last year and had six goals and eight assists.
"Mike is a proven NHL player who has had two seasons that have been not at the level he was previously," Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson told the Dispatch. "He's trying to get his career back on track.
"We expect him to seriously compete for a job here. If he can get back to a level he was on the Island, he'll be a very good addition for us."
