Canes searching for centerman
TheFourthPeriod.com

The Carolina Hurricanes would like to add a two-way center, to man the middle of their third line, prior to the March 5 trade deadline.

Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford has been on the hunt for a depth center for a while, but has come up empty.

Aside from trying to trade one of the team's three goaltenders -- Cam Ward, Anton Khudobin and Justin Peters -- Rutherford has been busy trying to add depth to his roster.

The Hurricanes would also like to add a second-line scorer and another mobile defenseman.

It's believed the Hurricanes have some interest in Florida Panthers center Marcel Goc, who is in the final year of his current contract, as well as Buffalo Sabres forward Steve Ott.

The Sabres are also shopping center Cody McCormick and the New York Islanders are dangling center Peter Regin.
