Former Carolina Hurricanes center Tim Brent has signed on with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod of the KHL and will play there during the 2013-14 season.

Brent, 29, registered three assists and eight penalty minutes in 30 games with the Hurricanes last season.

"Would like to thanks the canes fans, my teammates and @HurricanesGM for my time in Raleigh," Brent said, via Twitter. "Truly a great place to play and live.

"Looking forward to a great new experience playing for #Torpedo in the #KHL. Can't wait to contribute in winning games in Novgorod."

In 207 career NHL regular-season games with the Anaheim Ducks, Pittsburgh Penguins, Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs and Hurricanes, Brent has accumulated 21 goals and 27 assists for 48 points, along with 76 penalty minutes.

He was originally drafted by Anaheim in the second-round (37th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
