Skinner out with concussion

For a second straight season, Carolina Hurricanes forward Jeff Skinner is expected miss time because of a concussion.

The 20-year-old sustained a concussion after crashing into the boards helmet-first in last Thursday night's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

He missed Monday night's game in Montreal with what was first called an upper-body injury.

Last season, Skinner missed 16 games with a concussion. He signed a six-year, $34 million contract extension with the Hurricanes this past summer.

In 13 games with the Canes this season, Skinner ranks second on the team with seven goals and 14 points.
