Jokinen heads back to Carolina

Carolina Hurricanes center Jussi Jokinen has returned to Raleigh after a couple of stints playing for Karpat of the SM-Liiga, Finland's top professional hockey league.

Jokinen, 29, collected four goals and 10 assists for 14 points, along with a plus-4 rating, in 14 games with Karpat.

TFP has confirmed that Jokinen will return to Oulu on Dec. 15 and play for Karpat if the NHL lockout goes beyond Dec. 14 and more regular-season games are cancelled.

Jokinen first joined Karpat on Sept. 16.

In 79 games with the Hurricanes last season, Jokinen registered 12 goals and 34 assists for 46 points.

The Kalajoki, Finland, native was originally drafted by the Dallas Stars in the sixth round, 192nd overall, of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

He has two-years left on his current deal with the Hurricanes.
