Jokinen signs with Finnish team TheFourthPeriod.com
Carolina Hurricanes center Jussi Jokinen has signed on with Oulu Karpat of the SM-liiga, Finland's top professional hockey league, because of the lockout.
Jokinen, 29, registered 12 goals and 34 assists for 46 points in 79 games with the Hurricanes last season.
The Kalajoki, Finland, native was originally drafted by the Dallas Stars in the sixth round, 192nd overall, of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
He has two-years left on his current deal with the Hurricanes.
Jokinen joins San Jose Sharks defenseman Jason Demers, who also signed with Oulu Karpat.
