Hurricanes closer to landing Staal TheFourthPeriod.com
The Carolina Hurricanes appear to be inching closer to acquiring center Jordan Staal from the Pittsburgh Penguins, TFP has learned.
It's believed the Hurricanes are dangling center Brandon Sutter as part of a larger package that could also include the team's first-round pick, which is eighth overall.
Staal reportedly rejected a 10-year offer pitched by the Penguins earlier this week, which prompted further speculation that Pittsburgh GM Ray Shero would aim to move him around the NHL Draft, which takes place tomorrow evening.
Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford has been on the lookout for a top-six forward for some time, recently admitting that finding such a player is a top-priority.
Jordan's older brother, Eric, is the captain of the Hurricanes.
