Tlusty signs new two-year contract TheFourthPeriod.com
The Carolina Hurricanes have signed center Jiri Tlusty to a two-year, $3.2 million contract.
Tlusty, 24, was schedule to become a restricted free agent July 1. He will earn $1.5 million next season and $1.7 million in 2013-14.
In 79 games with the Hurricanes this season, Tlusty accumulated 17 goals and 19 assists for 36 points.
The native of Slany, Czech Republic, has played in 228 career NHL games with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Hurricanes, and has registered 34 goals and 40 assists for 74 points.
Tlusty was originally drafted 13th overall by the Leafs in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
