Hurricanes won't rush into trade

As the trade deadline inches closer and closer, Carolina Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford isn't about to pull the trigger on a deal just for the sake of making headlines.

With Justin Williams out at least a month with a fractured hand, Rutherford told the Raleigh News & Observer he isn't sure the team will trade for a forward.

"We'll look at it, but the prices are pretty high," Rutherford said. "The market has set the price high.

"We will make a decision at some point — do we pay the price or do we ride it out with the team we have? That could be a tough decision to make."

According to the paper, the Hurricanes have room under the salary cap to make additions to the roster, but they have an internal budget that might prevent them from making a splash before March 4.
