Hurricanes won't sign Hordichuk TheFourthPeriod.com
The Hurricanes acquired the rights to Darcy Hordichuk hoping they'd be able to sign him to a contract, but that doesn't appear to be the case.
According to the Raleigh News & Observer, talks between Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford and Hordichuk's agent have come to a halt, and the physical forward will test the market July 1.
"We're not going to get anything done with him," Rutherford told the paper. "The fact that we had tried to get a jump on it and he wasn't interested in what we had to say, it would appear we're not getting him."
The Hurricanes gave up a fifth-round pick in this year's draft to Nashville for Hordichuk's rights. Providing he doesn't sign with Carolina, the Predators will give the Canes a fifth-round pick in the 2010 draft.
