The Buffalo Sabres are looking to sign top prospect Hudson Fasching now that he has completed his junior season with the University of Minnesota.
As reported by the Buffalo News beat reporter John Vogl, the Sabres could start contract negotiations with Fasching right away and the right wing "could be wearing a Buffalo uniform this week."
Fasching, 20, finished his season with the University of Minnesota on Saturday after posting 20 goals and 18 assists for 38 points in 37 games.
According to Vogl, Fasching is "open to leaving college" and the Sabres "would likely have to promise an immediate spot in the NHL" in order to persuade him to leave.
As the paper notes, though, if Fasching signs with immediately joins the Sabres for their remaining nine regular-season games, it would count as a year of a three-year, entry-level contract.
The Sabres acquired Fasching from the Los Angeles Kings on Mar. 5, 2014 in a four-player, two-draft pick trade.
