"I like it here, and we'll get something done," Hodgson told The Buffalo News.
Hodgson, 23, is coming off his three-year, entry-level contract.
Left wing Thomas Vanek, who could be traded at some point this season, is hopeful Hodgson and the Sabres can come to terms on a new contract.
"Hopefully, we can get Cody signed because I thought we had some good chemistry at the end (of last season)," Vanek told the News. "But again, that's the business side of it that his agent and the Sabres need to figure out. Hopefully, he's here. If not, we'll have to find somebody else just like I found him before."
Hodgson recorded 15 goals and 19 assists for 34 points last year with the Sabres.
