Weber inks multi-year extension

The Buffalo Sabres have re-signed pending restricted free agent defenseman Mike Weber to a multi-year contract extension.

Weber, 25, registered one goal, six assists and 70 penalty minutes in 42 games with the Sabres this past season.

In parts of five NHL seasons, the Pittsburgh native has appeared in 174 games for the Sabres, tallying six goals and 26 assists for 32 points and 236 penalty minutes, with a plus-6 rating.

Weber was originally drafted by the Sabres in the second-round (57th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
