Sabres officially sign Hecht

The Buffalo Sabres have officially re-signed unrestricted free agent center Jochen Hecht to a one-year, $1 million contract.

TFP Editor-in-Chief David Pagnotta first reported the done deal via Twitter earlier this morning.

Hecht, 35, played in 22 games with the Sabres in 2011-12 and tallied four goals and four assists.

The Mannheim, Germany was acquired from Edmonton in a trade prior to the 2002-03 season.

Hecht has recorded 133 goals and 198 assists for 331 points in 566 regular-season games as a member of the Sabres.

As the longest-tenured player on the team's roster, Hecht ranks 20th in franchise history in games played, goals and points. He leads all active Sabres with a career plus/minus rating of plus-94, ranking him 23rd among all active NHL players.
