Ennis, Spurgeon sign in Swiss League

Buffalo Sabres left wing Tyler Ennis and Minnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon have signed with the SCL Tigers of the Swiss National A League.

Ennis, 22, had just signed a two-year contract with the Sabres five days ago, prior to the start of the NHL lockout.

In 48 games with the Sabres last season, Ennis tallied 15 goals and 19 assists for 34 points, with a plus-11 rating.

Spurgeon, a long-time friend of Ennis, registered three goals and 20 assists for 23 points 70 games with the Wild last season.

Ennis and Spurgeon become the 11th and 12th NHL players to sign in Switzerland during the lockout, joining the likes of Logan Couture, Joe Thornton, Rick Nash and Tyler Seguin.
