Kaleta inks three-year deal

The Buffalo Sabres have re-signed restricted free agent forward Patrick Kaleta to a three-year, $3.825 million contract.

Kaleta, 26, led the Sabres in 2011-12 with 116 penalty minutes and led all forwards with 139 hits. Through 63 games played last season, he recorded five goals and five assists for 10 points.

A Buffalo native, Kaleta was drafted by the Sabres in the sixth round (176th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He made his first appearance with the team in the 2006-07 season.

In 267 career regular-season games, Kaleta has accumulated 26 goals and 24 assists for 50 points, with 434 penalty minutes.
