Hasek turned down by Sabres
TheFourthPeriod.com

According to legendary goaltender Dominik Hasek's agent Ritch Winter, the veteran goalie is in pursuit of a multi-year NHL contract.

Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier and coach Lindy Ruff reportedly met with Hasek to hear the 47-year-old netminder's sales pitch to return to the NHL, but told him that they aren't interested in his services.

"One thing I am sure of: He has no doubt in his mind that he can play," Regier told NHL.com. "I think it probably gives him a little bit of lift seeing somebody like (Martin) Brodeur play at 40 in the Stanley Cup Final. I know better than to question Dom's desire and his ability. Unfortunately, it's not something that was going to fit here."

Ryan Miller and Jhonas Enroth currently serve as the goaltending tandem in Buffalo.

Hasek is a winner of six Vezina Trophies as the league's top goaltender. He also won two Stanley Cups while playing for the Detroit Red Wings, with whom he last played during the 2007-08 season. He has been playing in Europe since then, most recently in the KHL during the 2010-11 season.

Hasek is still eyeing a return to the NHL for next season as he feels that he can continue playing for a few years at an extremely high NHL level.
