Vote of confidence in Buffalo

Sabres president Ted Black has confirmed to the Buffalo News that the team is already planning to bounce back from this season's disappointing finish and that the plans will include both GM Darcy Regier and coach Lindy Ruff.

"They'll be back next season," Black told the paper. "I didn't see a need to do anything otherwise at this juncture. We spent the better part of this week planning next year."

Although forward Derek Roy, who has been in the organization for nine years, was amongst those who criticized the way Ruff handled his players this season, Black cleared up any questions regarding Regier and Ruff's futures by stating that they will be back for their 16th year with the franchise.

The GM and coach were also criticized in the media after the Sabres, and their high-priced payroll, finished the season in ninth place of the Eastern Conference.

However, the team is expected to carry on the aggressive approach in adding players it established during new owner Terry Pegula's first offseason last summer.

Meanwhile, Ruff declined an invitation to coach Canada at the World championship this year. He was coach back in 2009, when Canada lost the final to Russia.
