Sabres defenseman Toni Lydman is in the final year of his contract and the Buffalo News reports he's concerned he may get traded before tomorrow's 3pm ET deadline.
"I'm one of the probable guys (who could be moved)," Lydman told the News.
"The biggest fear concerning the trade deadline might be if they move me, then hopefully they're a playoff team because I don't want them to do worse. That would [stink]."
According to the News, the Sabres have not yet started discussing a contract extension with Lydman or Henrik Tallinder.
"I'm unrestricted after this season, so yeah, it's a possibility," Tallinder told the paper. "Anything can happen, but I'm used to it now. A lot of seasons there's been trade talks for this team and for me and for everyone. It's nothing new."
With the Sabres battling for first in the Northeast, it may be unlikely for the team to part with some of its core defensemen.
Sabres GM Darcy Regier is looking to add to the roster, though with eight defenseman on the team, one could be dealt to free up cap space for another acquisition.
"It's not in my hands," Lydman said. "Whatever jersey I put on after Wednesday, that's who I work for."
