Sabres GM set with current roster?

Sabres GM Darcy Regier seems comfortable enough with his current roster that he won't be forced into making a move before the Mar. 3 trade deadline, reports the Buffalo News.

"The focus isn't to look right now for outside help," Regier told the paper. "It's how do we all get better internally. I think we're all focused on that.

"You're always looking at ways internally within your own organization, first and foremost, how you can become better. You're looking at your minor-league club. You're looking at players in positions, which are the things [coach] Lindy [Ruff is] doing. We sit down and talk about how we can become better internally or on the outside."

Regier doesn't appear close to making a move, but hinted a deal could be completed closer to the deadline.

"Outside of the goaltending position, it's more just if there's ways for us to be better at a position — not necessarily position, but ways to improve the team," Regier said. "Those are the conversations, and that's really it."

The Sabres could make a minor move before the deadline, bringing in a veteran forward or a depth defenseman. Regier has time to make a move and he's admitted that. If one goes down, it'll come after the Olympic break. -- David Pagnotta
