Hecht signs extension with Sabres TheFourthPeriod.com
The Buffalo Sabres have agreed to terms on a four-year contract extension with forward Jochen Hecht.
Hecht's new contract, that will see him earn $14.1 million over the length of the deal, will keep him in Buffalo through the 2011-12 season.
The native of Mannheim, Germany, recorded a career-high 56 points (19 goals, 37 assists) in 76 games with Buffalo in 2006-07.
Hecht, 30, has accumulated 112 goals and 186 assists in 478 career NHL games with Buffalo, St. Louis and Edmonton.
The Sabres acquired Hecht from Edmonton on June 22, 2002, in exchange for the 31st and 36th picks in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He was originally St. Louis' first choice (2nd round, 49th overall) in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.
