The Boston Bruins have signed Boston University defenseman Charlie McAvoy to a three-year entry-level contract, beginning with the 2016-17 season.
McAvoy, 19, has two assists and a plus-three rating in four games with the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League (AHL) this season.
He was selected to the Hockey East First All-Star Team in his sophomore season with the Boston University Terriers in 2016-17, posting five goals and 21 assists for 26 points with 51 penalty minutes and a plus-nine rating.
Prior to attending Boston University, the 6-foot-1, 211-pound blueliner spent two seasons in Ann Arbor, Michigan with the U.S. National Development Team.
The Long Beach, New York native was selected 14th overall by the Bruins in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
