Bruins shopping defenseman Boychuk?
TheFourthPeriod.com

The Boston Bruins are looking to free up some salary cap space and appear to be shopping defenseman Johnny Boychuk in order to create some room.

The Bruins have roughly $5.7 million in available cap space, which includes center Marc Savard's $4.027 million salary being attributed to LTIR.

With restricted free agents Reilly Smith, Justin Florek, Jordan Caron, Torey Krug and Matt Bartkowski left to sign, the Bruins need more space to strengthen their roster for the 2014-15 campaign.

The Bruins were unable to re-sign Jarome Iginla, who inked a three-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche, as a result of their cap woes.

According to multiple sources, the Bruins are looking to shed some salary and Boychuk and his $3.366 million salary are on the block.

It's believed the Calgary Flames, Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche are among the teams interested in Boychuk.

Boychuk, 30, has one-year left on his contract, and according to CapGeek.com, his limited no-trade clause expired on May 31.
