Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara is heading overseas, as he has signed with HC Lev Praha of the KHL and will play for them during the NHL lockout.
"He has friends there (in Prague), and it's within hours of his home in Slovakia and it's a great hockey city," Chara's agent, Matt Keator, told USA Today.
Chara joins Calgary Flames right wing Jiri Hudler and Philadelphia Flyers forward Jakub Voracek on Praha.
KHL teams are allowed to sign a maximum of three NHL players during the NHL's lockout, while a max salary has been imposed of 65 per cent of what they earn under their NHL contracts.
In 79 games with the Bruins last season, Chara registered 12 goals and 40 assists for 52 points, along with a plus-33 rating.
