Horton, McQuaid cleared for contact TheFourthPeriod.com
The Boston Bruins revealed yesterday that right wing Nathan Horton and defenseman Adam McQuaid have been cleared for contact by medical staff and are expected to be ready for the start of training camp in September.
Horton collected 17 goals and 15 assists for 32 points in 46 games last season, but missed action after suffering a concussion from a hit by Philadelphia Flyers forward Tom Sestito in late January.
It was his second concussion in six months, after being by Vancouver Canucks defenseman Aaron Rome in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final in June 2011. He didn't return until the start of the 2011-12 season.
McQuaid suffered his head injury on March 29 after a hit by Washington Capitals forward Jason Chimera.
In 72 games last season, McQuaid posted two goals and eight assists for 10 points, and 99 penalty minutes.
