Bruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg is hoping he can impress the team enough to earn a contract extension this summer, the Boston Globe reports.

Seidenberg was traded to the Bruins on Wednesday and can become an unrestricted free agent July 1.

"This is a good opportunity for me to show what I can do and if I can fit on the team," he told the Globe. "There is a chance - I definitely hope - to stay here."

Seidenberg signed with the Florida Panthers as a free agent last summer after spending last season with the Carolina Hurricanes.
