Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli wants to add some extra scoring punch to his roster before today's trade deadline kicks in at 3pm ET, reports the Boston Herald.
The Bruins have inquired about Carolina's Ray Whitney, St. Louis' Keith Tkachuk, and Anaheim's Teemu Selanne, but Chiarelli won't overpay for a rental.
"I've said this before: I'm confident this group can score," Chiarelli told the Herald. "I'd like to give them some help. But if I don't, I am confident that they can score. I liked the way they ended off prior to the break."
While it appears unlikely the Ducks will move Selanne, Whitney, Tkachuk and Florida's Cory Stillman could be available for the right price.
"We're in a couple of things still," Chiarelli said. "As I've said before, I'd like to get a top-nine forward. We may end up getting it. I've tried not to take too much from our team, if anything. I don't know if that's possible."
The Bruins are also interested in upgrading their defensive corps and are also interested in Hurricanes blueliner Joe Corvo.
