Bruins hire Julien as coach TheFourthPeriod.com
TFP has learned that the Boston Bruins have hired Claude Julien to be their next head coach, with an official announcement expected as early as tomorrow.
A source, who spoke on the basis of anonymity, told TFP that the Bruins have hired Julien.
Julien, 47, was the head coach of the New Jersey Devils during the 2006-07 campaign, but was fired on April 2. He led the Devils to a 47-24-8 record before being let go.
Calls to the Bruins and Julien were not immediately returned.
While behind the Devils' bench, Julien led the team to first place in the Atlantic Division and won four of his last five games before being fired.
Julien previously coached the Montreal Canadiens from January 2003 until January 2006. His record in the NHL is 119-86-16, with 17 ties.
