According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Thrashers aren't any closer than they were last week to signing restricted free agent forward Niclas Bergfors to a new deal.
Last week, the Thrashers signed Bryan Little to a new contract and shifted their focus to Bergfors.
Thrashers GM Rick Dudley, however, said the two sides are not agreeing on terms.
"Once again, perhaps what we view the player and what they view the player may not be exactly the same," Dudley told the Journal-Constitution. "The truth is, and I've kept to this, we will not do a deal where if there is a situation where we placed a player on waivers tomorrow, would he be claimed? If we are going to give him more money than that, then it's silly. That's been true of every player we've signed."
Bergfors was a key component to a trade with New Jersey that saw Ilya Kovalchuk head to the Devils on Feb. 4, 2010.
Meanwhile, the Journal-Constitution also reports the Thrashers have invited veteran defenseman Kyle McLaren to training camp on a try-out basis.
