The Atlanta Thrashers have traded forward Todd White to the New York Rangers in exchange for forwards Patrick Rissmiller and Donald Brashear.
The Thrashers will place Brashear on waivers and buy out of his contract if he clears.
Rissmiller, 31, recorded 47 points (20 goals, 27 assists) in 69 AHL games last season with Grand Rapids and Hartford. He also appeared in two NHL games with the Rangers.
The Belmont, Mass., native was originally signed by the Sharks as a free agent on Sept. 23, 2002.
Brashear, 38, appeared in 36 games with the Rangers last season, recording one assist and 73 penalty minutes. He posted 205 points (85 goals, 120 assists) and 2,634 penalty minutes in 1,025 career NHL games with Montreal, Vancouver, Philadelphia, Washington and the Rangers.
White, 35, recorded 26 points (seven goals, 19 assists) in 65 games with the Thrashers last season. He has collected 136 points (43 goals, 93 assists) in 221 games with Atlanta since being signed as a free agent on July 1, 2007.
The Kanata, Ontario, native was originally signed by the Blackhawks as a free agent on Aug. 27, 1997.
