The Thrashers were busy assessing their trade options yesterday before the trade deadline, but they never received a suitable option for veteran Slava Kozlov.
Kozlov, 37, has a no-trade clause and needed to approve any deal the Thrashers tried to make.
The native of Voskresensk, Russia, has been unhappy with his playing time in Atlanta and was hoping for a trade, but he never submitted a list of teams he would accept a trade to, nor did he waive his no-trade clause to accommodate a trade out of Atlanta.
"We never officially waived the no-trade clause," Kozlov's agent, Scott Lites, told TFP.
It's believed Thrashers GM Don Waddell was of the understanding that if a right deal presented itself, only then would he approach Kozlov about a prospective trade.
Kozlov is in the final year of his contract and can become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
Lites indicated that Kozlov fully intends to continue playing in the NHL next season.
