Kozlov commanding interest, Kubina likely staying

Thrashers GM Don Waddell is very busy this trade deadline season, but he appears to be active in both the buying and selling markets, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on its website earlier today.

Veteran forward Slava Kozlov has asked to be traded and is willing to waive his no-trade clause to accommodate a deal to a Stanley Cup contender.

"I've had a few conversations with a few teams, but nothing really new," Waddell told the paper. "A couple of teams I have reached out to. People know he's available now, thanks to the media."

Waddell wouldn't say whether or not he expects a trade to be made involving Kozlov, but he did hint that a trade involving defenseman Pavel Kubina may be unlikely.

"If there are hockey trades out there to make, we are certainly going to look at them," Waddell said. "If you are asking if we are going to trade Pavel Kubina for a second-round pick, like all these people are speculating, that's not going to happen."

Whether a team decide to pay up for Kubina remains to be seen, but two other players possibly on the move are forwards Colby Armstrong and Eric Boulton.

"If we could add a little size up front, that would be my wish list," Waddell admitted. "You'd like to get a little bigger. . . . If we could add some size, that would be a wish."
