Thrashers trade Lehtonen to Stars

TFP has learned that the Atlanta Thrashers have traded goaltender Kari Lehtonen to the Dallas Stars in exchange for defenseman Ivan Vishnevskiy and a fourth round draft pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Lehtonen, 26, has spent his entire career with Atlanta. He has appeared in 204 career NHL games, earning a 94-83-17 record with a 2.87 goals-against-average (GAA) and 14 shutouts.

"Kari Lehtonen is a proven elite goaltender," said Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk."We are very excited to add him to our hockey club."

Lehtonen was drafted second overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Thrashers.

Vishnevskiy, 21, was held scoreless in two games with Dallas this year, but posted eight goals and 16 assists in 51 AHL games with the Texas Stars.

The 6-0, 195-pound defenseman was selected by Dallas in the first round, 27th overall, of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
