The Atlanta Thrashers have signed unrestricted free agent right wing Maxim Afinogenov to a one-year, $800,000 contract.
Afinogenov, who spent the last nine seasons with the Buffalo Sabres, was invited to Atlanta's training camp on a pro tryout contract.
In 48 games with the Sabres last season, Afinogenov recorded six goals and 14 assists for 20 points.
The Moscow native has accumulate 134 goals and 200 assists for 334 points in 569 career NHL regular-season games.
