Thrashers trade Christensen to Ducks

The Atlanta Thrashers have traded forward Erik Christensen to the Anaheim Ducks for the rights to forward Eric O'Dell.

Christensen, 25, appeared in 47 games for Atlanta this season, five goals and 14 assists, with 14 penalty minutes.

Originally selected by Pittsburgh in the third round (69th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Christensen has registered 40 goals, 49 assists and 104 penalty minutes in 200 career NHL games with Pittsburgh and Atlanta.

O'Dell, who was selected by the Ducks in the second round, 39th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, has appeared in 59 games with the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League this season, recording 59 points (30 goals, 29 assists). The 6-0, 175-pound center leads the Wolves in goals, power play goals (11), ranks second in points and is tied for fourth in assists. He also appeared in the 2009 OHL All-Star Classic, recording a goal.

O’Dell, 18, has registered 44 goals and 47 assists in 85 career OHL games with Sudbury.

The Edmonton, Alberta, also registered 97 points (50 goals, 47 assists) in 141 career AHL games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
