According to the Ottawa Sun, the Atlanta Thrashers are looking to acquire defenseman Mathieu Schneider from the Anaheim Ducks.
The Ducks are looking to move Schneider in an attempt to shed enough salary to get under the cap and sign unrestricted free agent Teemu Selanne.
Atlanta, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Vancouver and New Jersey are among the teams interested in the 39-year-old.
The Sun notes the Thrashers are the only team that has the cap room to add Schneider without making other roster moves.
With Erik Johnson gone for the season with a knee injury, the Blues might be hard-pressed to acquire a replacement.
The Kings have reportedly offered defenseman Tom Preissing, who will make $2.75 million next season, in exchange for Schneider.
The Sun claims the Senators held talks with the Ducks over the summer, but nothing materialized.
