Heatley, Ducks talking contract

The Anaheim Ducks have been in talks with the agent for unrestricted free agent winger Dany Heatley, and a deal appears to be on the horizon.

According to multiple reports, the Ducks and Heatley are inching closer to a contract, though terms are not yet known.

Ducks beat writer Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reiterated Anaheim's interest on Wednesday via Twitter.

"Does appear to be a potential real match between Ducks and Dany Heatley," he tweeted. "Could happen as soon as today."

Heatley, 33, is coming off a six-year, $45 million contract. His next salary could fall in and around the neighborhood of $2 million.

In 76 games with the Minnesota Wild last season, Heatley registered 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points.
