Ducks in serious trade talks

Anaheim Ducks GM Bob Murray is involved in significant trade discussions and appears willing to move some of his young assets in order to acquire some top-tier talent.

It is unclear if a deal is imminent, but the Ducks are believed to be aggressive on the trade front.

A source close to the Ducks organization told TFP on Sunday evening that Murray is weighing multiple options and could be fairly busy by Wednesday's 3pm ET trade deadline.

The Ducks have been linked to New York Islanders defenseman Andrew MacDonald, Edmonton Oilers right wing Ales Hemsky, and Buffalo Sabres left wing Matt Moulson and blueliner Christian Ehrhoff, among others.

TFP has learned that the Ducks are willing to move 22-year-old defenseman Sami Vatanen and are dangling him as trade bait.

Vatanen, who was recently assigned to the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL, has registered six goals and eight assists for 14 points, along with 20 penalty minutes and a plus-two rating, in 41 games with the Ducks this season.

He captured a bronze medal at the Winter Olympics with Finland.

Young forwards Devante Smith-Pelly, Kyle Palmieri and Rickard Rakell could also be made available.
