Beauchemin has off-season surgery

Anaheim defenseman Francois Beauchemin underwent anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructive surgery on his right knee on Thursday, the Ducks announced today.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Ronald Glousman at the Kerlan-Jobe Center in Los Angeles.

Beauchemin, who turns 33 next month, is expected to make a full recovery and is hopeful to return in time for the start of the 2013-14 season.

Beauchemin led club defensemen with 24 points (six goals, 18 assists) in 48 games this season.

His career-best plus-19 rating ranked tied for 11th in the NHL and co-led the Ducks with Sheldon Souray.
