Koivu returns to Anaheim

Anaheim Ducks center Saku Koivu has returned to California after spending the last month in Finland skating with TPS Turku of the SM-Liiga.

Koivu, 38, and could officially join the club if the NHL and NHLPA are unable to come to terms on a new CBA and the NHL season gets cancelled.

The Turku native spent the 2004-05 lockout playing for TPS, where he registered eight goals and eight assists for 16 points in 20 games.

Koivu's brother, Mikko, played 10 games with TPS in November, while Los Angeles Kings defenseman Alec Martinez and former Phoenix Coyotes forward and current unrestricted free agent Lauri Korpikoski also played for the club.

St. Louis Blues defenseman Kris Russell and Kevin Shattenkirk are playing for TPS.

Koivu skated in 74 games for the Ducks last season, registering11 goals and 27 assists for 38 points.
