"I'm trying to avoid that question," Selanne told NHL.com, when asked whether he'd agree to any potential deals before the trade deadline. "Obviously, everybody in this room believes that we can make the playoffs and that would be almost wrong to think about any other options. That's not in my mind right now. Let's see what happens. My main focus is right now and today."
Although the veteran winger holds a no-movement clause in his contract and would need to waive it in order for a trade to occur, many are envisioning Selanne and good friend Finnish Wings forward Valtteri Filppula coming together for a Stanley Cup run in Hockeytown.
The Ducks sit in 13th place of the Western Conference and nine points of the final playoff spot, which could lead Selanne to reassess his desire to remain a Duck if the team fails to collect more points on its eight-game road trip.
In 54 games with the Ducks this season, Selanne has recorded 18 goals and 32 assists for 50 points.
