Ducks sniper Bobby Ryan has turned down a five-year, $25 million contract offer presented by Anaheim, reports the Orange County Register.
Ducks GM Bob Murray confirmed the offer was rejected when speaking with the media yesterday after the club signed center Saku Koivu and defenseman Toni Lydman.
"We went to five years at $5 million a year, thinking that after what I heard him say last week that it would be very close," Murray said. "We offered him a four-year deal at a lower number and they flat out turned that down as quick as you can say whatever you want to say."
Ryan is a restricted free agent and is looking for $5.25 million per season on a multi-year contract.
Agent Don Meehan, who jointly represents Ryan along with Mark Guy, would not comment on negotiations.
