With plenty of hockey left in the season, Ducks GM Bob Murray isn't about to press the panic button just yet, but that doesn't necessarily mean he hasn't considered it.
The Ducks currently sit last in the Western Conference with a 10-13-6 record and eight points out of a playoff spot.
Murray has been entertaining numerous trade scenarios lately and has received inquiries about the availability of such players as Bobby Ryan and Scott Niedermayer.
While it's unlikely either player will be moved, Murray wouldn't mind parting with some other players on his team.
According to various reports, forward Joffrey Lupul and goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere are being tossed around the trade block and could be dealt at some point this season.
Murray was in Toronto last night to watch the Maple Leafs 5-2 win over the Atlanta Thrashers, prompting further speculation that the Ducks and Leafs are talking trade. Earlier this season, Toronto scouts were spotted at various Ducks games.
The Maple Leafs are looking for help up front and Lupul played for Leafs GM Brian Burke while he was in charge of Anaheim.
While nothing appears imminent, the Ducks are certainly weighing their options.

I was at the game and briefly ran into Murray, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's there to finalize a trade with the Leafs. He was also chatting it up with Thrashers GM Don Waddell... doesn't mean those two were specifically talking trade. But I do find it interesting that the Leafs have been scouting the Ducks and Murray decided to take the trip up north. The two teams are talking, but the Ducks have other options. And no, they're not going to trade Bobby Ryan. -- David Pagnotta
