Ducks won't trade Niedermayer, GM says
TheFourthPeriod.com

Despite recent reports suggesting Anaheim might try to trade Scott Niedermayer later this season, Ducks GM Bob Murray isn't planning on making a move, reports the Orange County Register.

The Newark Star-Ledger reported this week that Niedermayer could be moved, possibly to the Devils, if the Ducks were out of playoff contention around the Mar. 3 trade deadline.

Niedermayer, who doesn't have a no-trade clause, prefers to stay in Southern California and the Ducks do not appear interested in moving him.

"Scott's going nowhere," Murray told the Register. "He was in New Jersey and some writer decided to make some trouble in Anaheim. Scotty is going to retire as an Anaheim Duck, whenever that might be. As far as I'm concerned, Scotty can play for the Ducks as long as he wants.

"It's the same thing I said last year. He wants to retire here and he's going to retire here."

When I spoke with Murray this week, he told me there was nothing going on regarding Niedermayer. It looks like that's still the case. That's not to say teams aren't going to inquire, as I'm sure some already have, but it doesn't look like Niedermayer will be going anywhere, nor does he truly want to. -- David Pagnotta
